Summa jobs

I love summer. And I love Texas. I love summer in Texas. I am having so much fun! It is amazing having my mom here so that I can go hang out with her whenever I want! We went shopping last night at Ann Taylor Loft and Ann Taylor using my discount and got TONS of cute things. Shhh...don't tell Tyler. Ha ha. I had an interview at Nordstrom yesterday so I'm hoping I get a job there too! It's a huge 3 story Nordstrom in Dallas at the Galleria, and it's the biggest in Texas. The department I interviewed for was The Individualist. They sell expensive designers like Ellie Tahari and Nanette Lepore. The manager was really nice and I'm excited about it! Magic Johnson's wife has a new line of jeans that the department just started carrying, so Magic Johnson and his wife are coming on August 1st to promote the jeans! The manager said that since this Nordstrom is such a big one they always have appearances by designers. How fun!

Well, it's another gorgeous day in Texas. I have been amazed at how mild the weather has been so far! It's perfect. I know within the next couple weeks it will get ridiculously hot but for now it is awesome! Well, I'm heading to the gym, then perhaps the pool, then work at Loft. See ya!

Fort Worth Zoo with Mom and Kate!

Me, my mom and Katelyn went to the Fort Worth Zoo on Memorial Day and it was so much fun! We got there at about noon and stayed 'til 5. We took a break for lunch around 3 and had delicious Panera bagels. It's a workout walking around the zoo....I loved every minute! We went and got a snow cone afterward and it was delish as always. We watched the Bachelorette that night...it was such a great day! :)

(got this cardigan in green, cream, and yellow)

(got this dress in green and white flowers)

My new job rocks. All the ladies I work with are so great and nice. I used my discount today and bought some cute things with the money that Grannybird gave me for graduation :) Ashley is here visiting in TX til Sunday and we went to get a snow cone at Bedford Snoballs last night! The couple that owns it and works there let us try their new creation - Nerdles. Ha ha I loved it. It's a mix of 8 flavors that taste like Nerds, and then topped with a sprinkle of Nerds.
Did I mention I love summer?

Got the job!

I got the job at Ann Taylor Loft and I get a great discount...so hopefully I actually make money at this job! Ha ha. Tyler and I went to my mom's house for dinner last night and it was SO good. We had watermelon, corn on the cob, ceasar salad and sweet and sour chicken with rice. Plus chocolate covered strawberries for dessert. We went on a fun walk to the park because the weather here in Texas is absolutely gorgeous. There has been no humidity and it's in the 70s. It's so nice! I layed out by the pool today and I was in heaven. I'm loving Texas!

Job Update

So, I quit that horrible job and have applied at a few new places. Ann Taylor Loft, Nordstrom, and Banana Republic. Nordstrom said they were going through applications today and that they would call me and I had an interview with Ann Taylor today which went well, so we will see! I went to get a snow cone with my mom last night for the first time of the summer and Al's Snowballs is still amazing. Creamy coconut...yummo! We watched the season finale of Grey's Anatomy and then I caught up on a few of the episodes I missed on abc.com. I highly recommend that show if you are seeking a fabulous drama-filled hour or two.

More updates soon. It's like 2 in the morning and I got up cause I couldn't sleep but I think I'm ready to catch some zzzz's now.

Worst Job EVERRRRRR

So...I HATE my new job. It is the worse job in the entire world and especially serving. I had to work today, SUNDAY, for Mother's Day because it was supposed to be "SOOO BUSY" but it wasn't hardly busy at all. I got a two table section since I'm new. PLEASE. I'm used to serving 20 people in one party. I had 6 tables ALL night. That's from 3 pm until 10 pm, people. I made 40 dollars, which calculates to be $5.50 an hour. Oh, did someone forget to mention to me that I'm a slave now having to work for under minimum wage? Not to mention there were SEVENTEEN servers on tonight. Are you kidding me? The most we ever had at Ruby River was 12. Why? So the people working can ACTUALLY MAKE MONEY. Oh yeah...that's why we have jobs. To make money. Every server was bored, so I asked my manager why not let some people go so that the people that were there could make some money..."No, you cannot leave until your scheduled time to leave." adlkfjaldkjflkdsaJF;LKADJS!!!!! I just about died. This job is seriously a joke. A JOKE. It was boring, ridiculous, and didn't make any logical sense at all. The management is HORRIBLE. The servers all smoke and drink and say the "F" word in every other sentence. Kill me now.

I'm quitting tomorrow.

Happy One Year Anniversary!

I absolutely cannot believe it is our one year anniversary today! I can picture our wedding day with every detail in my head like it was yesterday! We have done so many fun things this year...Maui, Lake Powell, Cancun, Mexican Riveria Cruise, summer sales in LA (okay that was NOT fun lol), I turned 22, I graduated, Ty turned 26, and we moved to Texas for the summer! I want to relive my wedding day. It was so perfect and it went by WAY too fast! Being married has its challenges and it's not a fairy tale all the time, but we love each other and we have fun. I've learned a lot of things this past year, including that it's hard to say sorry when you know you're always right ;) ha ha jk. We're excited for many more anniversaries to come! HAPPY ONE YEAR!

Rainy day in good ol' TX

Today has been a very rainy day in Texas! There is a ditch in the back of our apartment buildings that is usually pretty dry or with a little bit of water. Look what happened! It was a full-on river! My friends and I wish we had a tube or even a canoe so we could have gone down it :)

I didn't even want to step outside while it was raining, so I decided to make enchilladas for dinner! They were VERY yummy and pretty easy too! I had a recipe and then adapted it to the ingredients I had which turned out delish. The recipe is below. Here they are cooking away in the oven, and the final result is the following picture.

Creamy Chicken Enchilladas:
4-6 cooked chicken breasts, cut up in cubes
1/2 cup salsa
1/2 cup sour cream
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 cup cheese
Tortillas (the Costco you-bake tortillas are the best!)
Mix salsa, sour cream, and cream of chicken together. Half the mixture then add chicken and cheese in one half. Fill tortillas with the chicken mixture. Spray cooking spray on bottom of pan and spread half of the sour cream mixture on the bottom. Put tortillas filled with chicken mixture in the pan then spread the rest of the sour cream mixture on top. Sprinkle with cheese. Cook at 350 for 25 minutes. Enjoy!

I got a job at Texas Land and Cattle Steakhouse! I'm excited to have something to fill my time and make some bucks. It is a lot like Ruby River so I already feel really comfortable working there, and the food looks SOOO good! I had my orientation on Friday and I train all this coming week. I also got a job as a part-time nanny and help to this woman who just lost her husband. I'll meet with her on Wednesday to talk about what she needs me to do. Things are moving along here in the heart of Texas!

I'm a BYU Graduate!!!

BYU blue pedicure!

Graduation way April 23 and 24, 2009. We had commencement with the whole university and then convocation the next day with each college where we all walked. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations. I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M A BYU GRADUATE! It's what I've spent my whole life looking forward to and I did it! I am so grateful for my experiences at BYU. I learned so much for my career, but I also learned a lot more than that. BYU is such an amazing institution that strengthened my testimony and helped me to become a better person and realize my potential in this life. I like the motto when you enter campus, "Enter to Learn, Go Forth to Serve." I feel better prepared to help spread the word of the Lord. I also learned that I am capable of so much more than I ever thought! When I had a million deadlines and so many things to do I would say to myself, "Where do I even start?" But then I would plunge forward and I was always able to get everything done. I'm such a sentimental person that it is almost sad that I graduated. Those were such wonderful years! I met so many fun people and laughed harder than I ever thought possible. There were hard times too, but I think everything works out the way it is supposed to in the end. It's weird to think that up until this point, my whole life has been planned! I didn't really think about after college because that seemed very far in the distance, but now it is here! I remember thinking when I was younger that high school kids were sooo old, and then when I got to high school I thought college kids were sooo old. Now I'm a college grad....am I sooo old?! Ha ha I know I have a lot of life left, but it's a mystery from here. I'm just lucky I was accepted into the best university and that I learned so much while studying at BYU. What a beautiful blessing.
