Welles' Walk With Angels + fun weekend pics!

On Friday night, we had my mom and Steve over and we didn’t really have any specific plans so we ended up making these recipes that my friend Jen had given me. She uses this service called Blue Apron where they drop off the food and recipes that you need to make a few meals each week. She was moving so she couldn’t use them that week. We made a steak dish and these turkey patty things and what we thought would take a half hour turned into a LOT longer than that! We didn’t end up eating until about 9:30 pm! I was getting slap happy at the end of the night because my mom was getting so frustrated cutting up all of the herbs and veggies and was getting confused by the recipe (they were so confusing!) that she just said, “forget it!” and started throwing in the veggies with the steak even though that’s not what you were supposed to do! Then Tyler set the table…and see the picture for yourself why I was laughing. It was all over the place! Then my mom asked who was supposed to sit where and I started laughing because I think I had literally taken a sip out of every single one of the drinks as I was filling them up because I was getting to the point where I just didn’t care any more. Oh, man, what a funny night.

The next morning we woke up and got ready for Welles’ Walk with Angels. It’s a fundraiser to support families who have special needs children. It’s such a great cause. I walked around with Scarlett to collect pine cones then we did the walk around the park. After that, we all got Cup Bop which is a really yummy Korean food truck. Katelin texted me that she was at the pool with the kids so we went home, got our suits, and went over there to spend the rest of the day with the Parcell clan. It was SUCH a gorgeous day and we loved just soaking up the sun, playing with the kids, holding Isla and finishing the day off with a hamburger BBQ and Rook.

Drew and Rachel Have Isla! - add pics from Ty's phone

We were so sad that we were going to miss Isla’s birthday because Rachel thought that she would have her early while we were in China. Tyler and I totally lucked out (sorry, Rach, I know you were dying to have her!) because she didn’t have her until the Sunday after we got back from China. We got a text and after Tyler got home from his church meeting we headed over to the hospital. We walked in and Isla was snuggled up on Rachel’s chest and I got a little teary eyed because it was so sweet! The birth of a baby is the most special, amazing thing. We sat there for a bit and we got to hold her. We stopped by the next day to drop off some pink roses and see her again. We love holding her any chance we get!

Matt and Tatum Have Finn!

Tatum had their cute little boy, Finn! He is so tiny and we just love him. Tyler and I went over to their house to meet him one night (we would have gone to the hospital but we left for China that morning) and Tatum had yummy brownies waiting for us. Have I mentioned how much I love Sloane? Oh my gosh, she says the FUNNIEST things!! We seriously adore her. We came back that Friday night for Tatum’s surprise 30th birthday party. McKell did a great job putting it together. Matt described it so hilariously later. He said, “they all popped out like gophers from behind the kitchen counter!” We had yummy BBQ sandwiches and had a great night.

My 28th Birthday

My family and friends made my birthday pretty special this year. Tyler was in Baja with his dad and brother on an adventure for my birthday but my friends and family totally picked up the slack. I’m glad he was able to go have fun! My mom showed up the night before with popcorn. From the movie theater. We speak the same love language! Oh, and she had just gone to the gym. We are twins. I woke up and found a big basket on my front porch from my dad full of lots of Easter candy, a nice card and a gift card to Olive Garden. I got into work a little late that day and walked in to see that my friend Jen had decorated my desk with pink streamers, balloons, a card, a cake and even pin the tail on the donkey. I was so surprised and I felt so loved! I met Carol, Heather, Rachel and Lindsday (and Ryker – I love that dude) at CPK for my birthday lunch. They all had really nice presents for me and the food and dessert were really good. Carol got me a pretty gold and diamond ring. After work, my mom and Steve came over and came loaded with gifts! They are so cute. They had balloons, a carameled apple and a pretty necklace. My mom bought all of the girls (including Steve’s girls) the most gorgeous pearl necklace so that by the end of the year, we will have matching necklaces for our birthdays. After they left, I got ready for my birthday dinner. Oakley, Jocelyn, Annalisa, Jen and her friend Ali went to Guru’s for dinner. Jocelyn bought me a pretty bracelet from J Crew and Oakley got me some cool earrings from J Crew. She said that she walked into the grocey store and got me the most disgusting candy she could find because she knew I would love it. She always makes fun of me because I like the little candy…she ended up getting me a Nerds rope and Lick a Sticks where you dip the candy stick in the sugar powder. Right up my alley!! We then all went to the Alison Show dance party. Alison is the cutest girl who has these fun dance parties only for girls. The party was a candy theme and it was awesome! We all danced the night away and I loved it. It worked out perfectly that it was on my birthday and she was so cute because she said that it was for my birthday celebration. After the dancing it was about 10:30 and me, Annalisa and Oakley all went to Denney’s for hot chocolate because that was the only place that was open. We all got hot chocolate and Oakley got hash browns, and Annalisa got toast. They spread lots of margarine on it which is hilarious because she hates maragine. It was such a funny night and I loved it! A great way to ring in my 28th year. Man, I’m getting old! It’s been TEN YEARS since I graduated from high school. A lot has happened but it feels like it has flown by at the same time. Crazy talk. I’ll read back on this when I’m 80 and wonder where the time has gone, I’m sure.

Memorial Day Weekend 2015 - add pics

Memorial Day weekend this year was pretty great. We started off Friday night with dinner at Wild Zucchini Grill with Marin and Drew James then saw the Woman in Gold at the dollar theater. They are such a cool couple and we love hanging out with them! When I get my dirt bike, we are going to go with them all of the time because they both have dirt bikes too. They are also going to spend a full month on a remote island living off the land and fishing for food. CRAZY! And cool. The next day we weeded and did our chores around the house then went up to City Creek to do a little shopping and meet up with a bunch of our friends for dinner at the food court area. There is a place for all of our friend’s kids to play. I got sushi and it was delish! After that, we went over to Oakley and Scott’s house so the boys could watch the basketball and me, Oakley and Amanda chatted. On Sunday we went to church then went over to Bruce and Jamie’s house for a really good dinner. Bruce marinated chicken for two days then smoked it. He’s a great cook and Jamie’s frog eye salad is my favorite. I brought peanut bars. After dinner. I learned how to ride a dirt bike! I first got on Jonah’s little dirt bike, then graduated to Jamie’s. Bruce and Tyler taught me how to shift and before long I was feeling pretty good and knew for sure that I wanted to get one! We drove up to my mom and Steve’s afterward and spent the night up there. The next morning we woke up and had our tradition of delicious crepes then went four wheeling and dirt biking all day. I tried out Tyler’s dirt bike and held my own! My mom and I got on the four wheeler and followed Tyler and Steve around the mountains up by their house. There were gorgeous views. In the middle of the day we took a Rook playing break because it rained. What a great weekend!
