Vegas for Easter

Whenever I tell anyone that I am going to Vegas for Easter, they are always confused. "Vegas for Easter?!" they say. Yep. It's not to go down to the strip to party, people. Tyler's family has had a tradition his whole life to get together on Easter weekend for the sunrise service. On Easter morning we wake up before the sun rises and go to the same place in the mountains to have a message about the Savior and watch the sun rise. Each family takes turns to plan the service where they give talks and sing and lead songs. Afterward we have scones at the pavilion.

This year we arrived late Thursday night and woke up on Friday to gorgeous weather. I went on short walk then we stopped at Target to buy some sunglasses because we forgot them and definitely needed them in the Vegas sun. I happened to find the gold glitter sandals that I had been eyeing as well :) We went with Heather and kids to meet up with Drew and Rachel at the Venetian's swimming pool because they had stayed there for a couple nights. We sat out by the pool, then went and got lunch at In N Out. After that we went and took quick showers then met everyone in Carol's family at the at the Vegas temple to go through with Karly as she got endowed. There was a small hicup when I was walking into the temple and realized I had left my recommend at Grannybird's! After waiting for 20 minutes and thinking I would have to wait outside the whole time, the presidency finally got in touch with someone from my ward who verified my temple recommend was in a good standing. We just made it! After the temple we went to Olive Garden with the Dye's, then Tyler and I went to Rachel and Dustin's to spend the night.

The next morning Tyler had to wake up and run 13 miles for his marathon training, so we got up and walked to a golf course and I went on a 2 hour walk while he ran. We got ready and then went to Grannbird's birthday party at a church. The decorations were really cute and there was a photo area set up so all of the families could get pictures with her. We had a yummy lunch and then watched a slideshow with pictures of her and all of the cousins and her children. After her lunch we went to Costo to get few things for the Easter breakfast and I found a chandelier that I loved for our new house! I had already ordered my lighting on Thursday so luckily my lighting guy was able to cancel the chandelier. We hung out at the Dye's that night and ate hot dogs and just sat around talking. It was so nice and relaxing. The next morning we went to the sunrise service, came home to take a nap, went to church then went to the Dye's for Sunday dinner and relaxing. Tyler drove home with his parents at about 5 and I stayed because I flew out of Vegas the next day to San Francisco for a week at my aunt Shawn's house with my mom and Katelyn! That night I went to the strip with Heather and Casey and we walked around to see the Bellagio fountains, get a quick dinner and see the pirate show at Treasure Island. We waited for a while and it ended up being was trashier than we remembered with girl pirates dressed in nothing so we left early! Too bad. I guess that's what you can expect from the strip.

It was such a great weekend filled with amazing weather and fun, relaxing time with the family.
