December was honestly an absolute whirlwind of fun. We had party after party and it was such a blast. Here's a run-through of some of the fun things we got to do:
- My sales Christmas party was at Spaghetti Factory. We did the white elephant gift exchange and I ended up with a Si Robertson head that says things. Very funny. I got a cotton candy drink that had cotton candy on top and it was delish! Tyler and I did a little Christmas shopping at the mall afterward.
- Lunch with Kacie. We went to Paradise Bakery and got caught up. Her little girl Evie was with and was so much fun! I love her :)
- We took the young women up to temple square and saw the light and got hot cocoa. There is something about being in the city at Christmas that is kind of magical. There are decoration and lights and Christmas music all around. I loved it!
- For my whole work party we went to see the Hobbit. I love when they do work parties at theaters because Tyler and I love seeing movies. I won one of the biggest prizes too! Lower bowl seats to the Jazz game which I was able to return to Costco to get $126. Winner!
- Family temple - we had breakfast at Magleby's before the temple, then went in the early afternoon. That night we went to Steve's family Christmas party. Everyone was so welcoming and fun...we loved it! We had waffles, did a white elephant gift exchange, and then played games. We got "hard cold cash" where someone had frozen 5 dollars into a block of ice. It was funny! I also brought a snowman cheeseball which I thought was cute :) The next night we went to the Parcell family Christmas party. We drove up with Rachel, Drew, and Jay.
- On Christmas eve we got to talk to Katelin! We all gathered around the tv and Tyler was able to connect it that way so we didn't have to hover around a small laptop. She is doing really well and we can't wait to see her when we meet her in China this April! Tyler earned another trip through insurance to China and it's right when Katelin is done with her mission so she will meet us there then we will go back to Singapore, Thailand, Bali and Malaysia!
- We went to Jamie and Bruce's for gingerbread houses after talking with Katelin. We were about an hour and a half late so we didn't really get to do much with everyone unfortunately. Our houses were pretty cute though! It was hard because my grandma wasn't there since she's been going through her cancer treatments. We sure missed her.
- On Christmas morning we woke up and Tyler had the sweetest surprises for me. First, I got a new Canon DSLR and it came with a bunch of lenses and other accesories. He wrapped up each one indiviudally so I had about 10 presents to open. After I got through all of them I still hadn't found the camera. He gave me some funny hint that didn't make sense, then he told me to go look on the stairs. He had put the camera on stairs wrapped in leopard print with a bow tied around it. He's too cute! I knew I was getting the camera but he made it so special. He also surprised me with a cute Nike workout jacket because he said I needed it :) He also stuffed my stocking with some treats, and put a chocolate truck in his ha ha. I bought him some cute socks and a cover for his truck bed so he could put his golf clubs, etc in it. After that, we started cooking for breakfast and prepped for dinner that night. We went over to my grandma's for brunch. I made an egg, bacon, potato casserole and my mom and Steve made crepes. We then took pictures in the gorgeous snow and opened presents. It haddn't snowed at all in the valley, then on Christmas day it was a winter wonderland and snowed non stop the entire day. It was perfect timing! We played a little Mario Cart and Tetris, then headed over to Drew and Rachel's for dinner. We had turkey, ham, potatoes, yams, etc and it was perfect! Their home decor was absolutely beautiful. Before dinner, we said the prayer and then Walt said he had something special for all of the girls. Rachel gave us all a box and we opened it up to find a pretty gold heart necklace. He told us to put it on and Carol said she needed to wash her hands. We all knew there was a surprise in her box! She finally got done with it all then we opened our boxes and and under her necklace card was a brand new wedding ring. It was gorgeous! It was such a fun present! After dinner we cleaned up and exchanged presents. Rachel and Drew gave Tyler some Lulu Lemon shorts and gave me a Jo Malone diffuser. We loved our gifts! It was great Christmas.
- The day after Christmas we went to the gym then did a little after-Christmas shopping. We got a beautiful 9 foot flocked Christmas tree for next year for half price! We also went to Taipan and got some ornaments and decorations. We then drove up to Oakley and went sledding and snowmobiliing with my mom and Steve. He has one snowmobile so they tied a big sleigh thing on the back and we took turns riding on that and riding on the snowmobile. It was absolutely gorgeous! I couldn't stop taking pictures it was so pretty! We went on a trail and weren't finding too many sledding spots so it was more a joy ride and then we stopped and had a few little races in the snow. It went up to our knees and was the most fluffy snow I had ever seen in my entire life! It was so beautiful! We rode back down, changed, then went to the cutest diner by their house. It was so charming. It was a dining box car that had been completely renovated. After dinner we went back to their house and watched a movie then went to sleep. The next morning we woke up and did a lot more sledding and snowmobile riding after eating crepes and eggs and ham for breakfast. That night we went to eat at Bajio with Tyler's parents and saw Unbroken.
- Sunday was Sloane's 3rd birthday so Tatum and Matt threw a Frozen birthday party for her. She is so cute and funny! She is SO smart too. It amazes me that she's only 3!
- On New Year's eve we went up to Oakley and Scott's. They got babysitters for all of the kids so all of the adults could go to dinner at Bombay House. It was delicious and fun to get to catch up with Jenni and Kayla who I hadn't seen in a long time! After dinner we went back to the house and played the name game until midnight. Tyler brought roman candles for midnight and we all drank sparkling cider. It was a blast! The next day we literally didn't leave our house until 7 pm!! We stayed in our pj's all day and watched football, napped...relaxed. At 7 we decided we should finally go to the gym so we did that and then had Bajio for dinner. It was a great day! Tonight we're planning to hang out with my mom and Steve and play games or something :)
