Rome Day 2!

On our second day in Rome we woke up and had breakfast at the hotel then took a short bus ride to the Vatican. I didn't really know what to expect while touring there but it was unreal! The detail in the paintings, tapestries and architecture was unbelievable to me, especially for how old everything was! One of the coolest parts for me was the Sistine Chapel where Michael Angelo labored for years and years. He didn't even like to paint, he preferred sculpting, but he was commissioned to paint the chapel and did such an amazing job. We weren't supposed to take pictures but Tyler snapped some with his iPhone. The area where the Pope preaches was really cool, too. It was absolutely massive. The sculptures and detail were amazing. It's hard to even describe! After we left there we went to the gift shop and bought a magnet since Ty and I collect magnets wherever we go.

When we got back to the hotel we walked down to a cafe and got some pastries and sandwiches. We then went with some of the owners of the insurance company we went with on a train then on a bus to get to this unbelievable garden called the Tivoli gardens. There was hundreds of fountains that ran into each other and were powered naturally through gravity. When we left there it started raining so we ran across the street and into the most adorable restaurant. They took us around the restaurant and up to a back entrance where we had a whole dining room to ourselves. It was very picturesque with the rain falling outside the open windows.

After dinner we got some gelato and then took the bus and train back to Rome. We walked down to the Trevi fountain again to see it at night then checked out a a few shops. It was such a cool day. Doing things like this are what I have always dreamed of doing!
